Focused might be an understatement. Calm probably doesn't do him justice. If anything, ready might be the most accurate to describe the current position Matt McGhee occupies. In ep 32, Matt McGhee, an MC from Maryland sat down with us to talk about his upcoming project "Under New Management" what it represents and the events leading up to this point in his career. Like most of us who are just trying to figure out this thing called life, Matt opens up about being impatient and frustrated on the journey to success despite being talented and putting the work in. Things weren't all so serious though, we also pulled some receipts on him and asked him to explain a few tweets about being paid for shows, his webMD struggles, and shea butter love. Speaking of love he wants you to know that he's the spokesperson for finding love and he's not afraid of being open and vulnerable about that within his music. But that's not all we talked about. We got to know about her story which actually started in Okinawa Japan as a military kid. And during the interview she talked about her move back to the states and being interested in singing by being involved in the choir at a young age. She talks about being on the verge of a major breakthrough and putting her current energy towards her upcoming project 'the hotel ep' dropping soon. I'm someone who believes that in many cases, less is actually more. I mean let's face it, we're living in the overload of information age and you have to get your point across in less time than ever nowadays. And if you'd ask my guests from this week they'd probably agree with me. This week on the show I spoke with the upcoming super group Not.Alone comprised of Nomad the Native, Marc Armour, and DÆTÄ who unfortunately couldn't be present for the interview. 

The group is coming off of the release for their first EP entitled "Black as the Ace of Spades".  We talked about all 3 songs, "Black Don't Crack, UNAPOLOGETIC, and Cicada, based on the Clint Smith poem. Their project encompasses many themes of the black experience and we talked about the moment they both realized they they were black, the power of collaboration, what their name, not.alone actually represents, and why a short, but sweet and flawlessly executed 3 track EP was the perfect introduction of not.alone in world of constant information overload. EP 40 - uhitsveronica FINALLY stops by to talk all things vinyl and has Afropunk stories for days

Mike of Doom. He's been making a name for himself for a while now and he recently put out perhaps his most personal project yet with 'MICHAEL' which dropped earlier this spring. During the interview Mike explained the life events causing a transition from making darker more gritty music on 'NO BULLSHIT' to a more upbeat positive light sounding project on 'MICHAEL'. He talked about that transition and challenges he went through to get to the point of making this personal project and even feeling empty and unhappy listening to his older music. He talks about bouncing back from the "dark place" he was in last year in 2016 and just speaking to him you can tell he's in a better place mentally as he talks about taking his performance game to the next level, 30Whop, PG County, and also his legacy. EP 41 - Mike of Doom gets personal about making "MICHAEL", 30Whop, and coming up in PG County

FTC Fam this week on the show we sat down w/ DJ Malcolm X (No relation). If you know anything about the dc scene there's a good chance you've seen his name on a flyer or heard him at your favorite party. During the interview he talks about his journey from Dj'ing gigs once a month at Velvet Lounge to basically have a gig every night of the week in DC. He's one of the busiest DJs in the city and credits his consistency and studying other DJs as some of the reasons why he's been able to have so much success thus far in his young career. EP 42 - DJ Malcolm Xavier explains how he crafted his sound as a DJ & drops an exclusive mix for FTC

This week on the show we chopped it up w/ fellow podcaster Niq Bohr (Pronounced Nick. My bad) of the Niq Bohr Show w/ Niq and Nari. He represents Virginia...hard and we covered a lot in this episode including his feelings about the DMV sometimes leaving out the V (Shoutout Rico Nasty).. He's a fellow Podcaster and we talked about some of the challenges we face to maintain a successful and consistent podcast.  Now if you're familiar w/ his podcast you know that Niq is good for a good rant or two so we got him to talk about a classic rant of his regarding the Good Vibes Festival in Virginia that was cancelled earlier this year.  Not only does he podcast but he manages 8 artists and a DJ so he's clearly a busy guy. EP 43 - Niq Bohr talks everything Virginia, Podcasting and successfully managing 9 artists

This week on the show we interviewed the groovy god himself Beau Young Prince. At this point in his career you can definitely consider him a Young OG. He's performed at SXSW several times opened up for Wale, Cam'ron, Danny Brown, and a list of others. We talked to him as he was fresh off the release of his latest EP entitled Sunset Blvd. As the title suggests he was in sunny california while he recorded the album and he talked about the differences between the DC and LA music scene. In addition to being a solo artist he also is 1/2 of the group Young Futura and he talked about how he linked up with Futura and also sometimes the frustration of being somewhat overlooked despite putting up crazy number in terms of streams.
