Wanted man jumps from porch, lands in police hands

FITCHBURG, Mass. (AP) — A Fitchburg man’s three-year run from the law has come to an end after he jumped from his second-story porch and into the hands of authorities.

The Sentinel & Enterprise reports Thomas Martin was wanted on federal drug charges.

Police learned the 38-year-old Martin was living at a residence on Wallace Road and went to his apartment Wednesday morning.

Police say Martin crawled out of a second-floor window and onto a porch after police knocked on his door. Martin then jumped from the porch, but police officers on the ground level caught him.

Martin was taken to the Leominster barracks for booking and then for arraignment at the U.S. District Court in Worcester.
