How I Fell Prey to Jezebel (How to Identify This Spirit in Your Life) Part II

About a week and a half ago, I posted Part I of How I Fell Prey to Jezebel (How to Identify This Spirit in Your Life) so if you haven't read it yet, please do. I've since read--and completed--Jennifer LeClaire's PHENOMENAL book, The Spiritual Warrior's Guide to Defeating Jezebel and interestingly enough, it confirmed many of the points in both Part I and II of this topic (albeit better articulated with more examples and deeper understanding). If you haven't read it yet, I HIGHLY recommend it and yes, I will be reviewing it for you all shortly. So it is with that great encouragement that I give you Part II of How I Fell Prey to Jezebel! I won't say "enjoy," but I will say LEARN and APPLY what you've learned upon reading this.

6) Jezebel is very helpful.

So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food. But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him, “Why is your spirit so sullen that you eat no food?”

He said to her, “Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him, ‘Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’”

Then Jezebel his wife said to him, “You now exercise authority over Israel! Arise, eat food, and let your heart be cheerful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.” … And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, “Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.” (I Kings 21:4-7, 15)

Besides selecting her associates (pawns) carefully, she makes herself seemingly of value. Jezebel could be:

  • Administratively brilliant

  • Vocally and or musically talented

  • A so-called gifted intercessor, etc.

Whatever your need is, she’ll fill it. Some likely popular positions she likes are:

  • Administration (i.e. secretary, office leader, armor bearers/handmaidens, etc. some type of gatekeeping position)

  • Leadership (i.e. associate, assistant, and other staff pastor positions)

  • Auxiliaries (i.e. head intercessor, house prophet, praise and worship leader, etc.)

Your genuine need(s) creates the foothold for Jezebel if you’re not discerning.

For me, Jezebel #2 was involved in the music and intercessory ministries. And she was anointed!

7) Jezebel is cold & calculating.

But when Herod’s birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod. Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask. So she, having been prompted by her mother, said, “Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a platter.” (Matthew 14:6-8)

This item builds on numbers 2 through 6 as well as 8 and 9. If you’re close to “Jezzy,” you may not realise that she’s cold (or calculating), but catch her in an off moment and you’ll see a face and hear a voice that you don’t recognize. (Should you be so lucky.)

I remember one time I was in Jezebel #2’s car. Some other friends were with us and a friend was telling her something about her object of obsession that she deemed all important. I started to say something and she snapped at me so fast it made my head spin! And it was just that she did snap at me, it was the way she did it. She shushed me like I was a naughty child! It so caught me offguard and seemed to uncharacteristic that I just told myself that wasn’t really her and tried never to think of it again.

Towards the end of our “friendship,” she snapped on me again. She and her inner circle (see #9) were all sitting around in a room and were discussing singing for a recent event. Things were already starting to unravel between us, but I still had no idea who and what I was dealing with. She’d done something that was EXTREMELY hurtful to me and as a result when I went to our music ensemble rehearsal, I had a bit of an attitude with her. The following service the flow of the Spirit (of God) was not there musically and she blamed it on me! And I quote:

I shoulda sat your butt down. *chuckle*

I wasn’t fooled that time!

What I did not know was that Jezebel was coming to the end of her need for and use of me so she treated me as if I was disposable. Never have the words of C.S. Lewis been proven so true!

I expect most witches are like that. They are not interested in things or people unless they can use them; they are terribly practical. (Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew)

8) Jezebel is patient.

Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri, king of Israel….When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal heirs….while Athaliah reigned over the land. (II Kings 8:26; 11:1, 3)

I expect this comes with the “cold and calculating” character flaws. Yet this is why Jezebel is so tricky. She counts up the cost and will patiently wait, growing stronger power and influence, until it’s her time to strike. Just like Athaliah waited to take the throne and Herodias waited to take John’s head, they both waited until the most advantageous time and then had their way.

I’m not sure how long I was “friends” with Jezebel #1 before she showed her true colours. However, I do know it was good year approximately that I was friends with Jezebel #2 before all Hell was unleashed. Other Jezebels with greater tasks and darker intentions will happily wait longer. Absalom is the same.

9) Jezebel always has a protective inner circle.

Now therefore, send and gather all Israel to me on Mount Carmel, the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table. (I Kings 18:19)

And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die. (I Kings 21:10 KJV)

Ahab’s wife employed 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah (a.k.a. the Queen of Heaven, Ashtoreth, Ishtar, Astar, Isis, etc.). And this number does not include the eunuchs, nor the sons of Belial whose number we do not know, nor others throughout the kingdom who were in her pay and influence. And I think we can safely assume the Kingdom of Sidon was her personal ally. It was this inner circle who was able to assist her in discrediting and stoning Naboth to death for a piece of land. It was this inner circle who assisted her in slaying the true prophets of God throughout the land. And it was this inner circle who stood with her in demonic confusion until Elijah stood atop Mount Carmel and called the fire of God down, embarrassing the false fire god, Baal, and leading his 850 prophets to righteous execution.

Jezebel #1 had her little delegation of trusted allies, some of which were (are?) as scary as she was--and with similar intentions!

And sadly, I was happy and “close” member of Jezebel #2’s demonic delegation. There were about 7 or 8 of us who protected her, placed her on a pedestal--most of them probably still do!--and we served as unofficial armor bearers, security, “prayer” partners, you name it, we were it. Nobody was gonna get to Jezebel #2 unless they’d gotten through us first! *hangs head in shame*

10) Jezebel is spiritual.

Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. (Revelation 2:20)

Jezebel is very spiritual! She is derived from the oldest false religion in the world, Baal and Ashtoreth worship (Genesis 10 & 11). Her “rat pack” consists of:

  1. Baal (Ruler of Demons) & Ashtoreth (Queen of Heaven)

  2. Idolatry, False Religion & AntiChrist

  3. Perversion

  4. Sexual Immorality (i.e. Fornication, Adultery, Homosexuality, Bisexuality, Pansexuality, etc.)

  5. Death

Talk about the coalition from Hell!! But let’s hone in on the second and third items.

Idolatry, False Religion & AntiChrist

Witchcraft is the religion of all fallen man, call it what you will. It’s working your own will--or any other will--besides that of God Almighty. From the blatant Baal worship found in 1st Kings to the sexual immorality taught in Revelation 2, Jezebel uses her spiritual nature to gain a foothold in the “kingdom” of her choice for false religion. She elevates “her truth” above the truth of God and rules laid out in His Word. She’s an antiChrist figure. She’s a false prophetess, a false teacher. She says things that appear to be true, yet are not. This segues into the next sub-point...

Perversion

Jezebel’s spirituality is perverse; it’s tainted, unclean. Any spirit speaking through her is NOT the Spirit of God! This gets twisted and even more so perverse when people such as Jezebel #1 and #2 who have actual intercessory and prophetic inclinations and callings are made the host for this spirit because it takes the gifts and callings of God which are irrevocable and twists them for their own purposes. The spirit twists the Word, the Spirit, ministry, anything you can think of! But if you have the Spirit of God, some things said and done will just not sound/feel right. Some examples of these “perverse displays” with Jezebel #2 include:

  1. Giving false prophetic words.

  2. Seeing/pretending to see false visions.

  3. Throwing tantrums fit for a 3 year old in prayer (complete with banging fists and kicking on the ground) because she wants to “stay with God” (to the extent of having to let me know, “Don’t worry, I’m not suicidal; I won’t kill myself!”).

  4. Allowing angels to sing through her to the point of noticeable vocal changes (i.e. it didn’t sound like her AT ALL).

  5. ALWAYS falling out (being slain in the “Spirit”) in prayer meetings, rehearsals, and services.

Any of these sound familiar to you?

11) Jezebel discredits the true prophetic voice.

For so it was, while Jezebel massacred the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah had taken one hundred prophets and hidden them, fifty to a cave, and had fed them with bread and water. (I Kings 18:4)

Anywhere in this process, depending on where those with true prophetic callings and giftings show up, Jezebel will seek to discredit them. In my own recent run-ins with a warlock (not in person, thank God!), one of his first attacks against me was to try and discredit me to my friend and others that we were ministering to. He literally tried to paint me as a renegade preacher with a bastard spirit, running around and preaching all over Facebook without any authority to do so. Thankfully, that weapon did not work! Yet this is ALWAYS what Jezebel does.

Queen Jezebel tried to discredit Elijah. Herodias tried to discredit John the Baptist. We can safely infer that “that woman Jezebel” in Revelation 2 discredited any true prophets around so as to gain her position as a teacher in the Church at Thyatira. She won’t have to (try and) assassinate you physically if she can assassinate your character and reputation first. If she can sully your prophetic reputation, then she can make you like Cassandra in Greek mythology--a prophet spouting truth that NO ONE listens to. And if you don’t recognize the attack, she may even make the prophet “flee” altogether like she made Elijah.

12) Jezebel takes you down with her if she can’t escape.

Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works. (Revelation 2:20-23)

In addition to Jezebel trying to take out her opposition, even if she is overthrown, she rests in the fact that she’s taken many down with her. Be her like Athaliah who slew her own seed or the false prophetess, Jezebel, who brings them all into her bed of immorality, and her partners die with her, Jezebel usually does not die alone. She’s taking everyone down with her that she can.

Absalom took an army to battle his father, David, for the throne. How many of his deceived men fell in battle before he himself was killed?

850 prophets of Baal and Asherah were slain (righteously) because they were caught in Jezebel’s web of deception. And just look back at the Israelites’ entrance into the Promised Land and how many were slain after they were seduced--at Balaam’s advice--by the idolatrous women of Moab? How many wives lost husbands? How many children lost fathers? How many parents lost sons? How many clan and tribal leaders were fallen?

Like Satan and the Queen of Heaven, Jezebel deceives herself into thinking that “no one sees her,” but she is wrong. God sees her. And God’s prophets see her too. She will come to her end and unfortunately, all others who tolerated her, bought into her deception, and helped spread her propaganda will understand “weeping and gnashing” of teeth in this life and in the next. And in the end, Satan is pleased. Do not buy into this deception because if you do, and you do not repent, you will absolutely, 100% die. It may be harsh; it’s tight, but it is right.
