In line with our commitment to screening the finest and boldest contemporary African cinema, the festival accepts films of all lengths and genres, including fiction, documentary, animation and experimental titles. There is no submission fee and, while our main objective is to represent a wide range of films and filmmakers stemming from across the continent and the Diaspora, we also accept submissions from non-African filmmakers whose films relate to Africa. Our focus is on quality from a range of African countries and genres.

Film Africa accepts entries via online submissions platform FilmFreeway.com. FilmFreeway offers free HD online screeners, Vimeo and YouTube integration, and more. Click to submit your film:

Support Film Africa 2015

Running Film Africa is a delightful, exciting, and important undertaking for the Royal African Society that is only possible because of the support of numerous individuals and institutions. We actively welcome partnerships for funding and sponsorship with other organisations who want to be involved with London’s largest celebration of African cinema and culture.

More opportunities to see world-class cinema from South Africa

Last year marked 20 years of freedom and democracy in South Africa. South Africa @ 20: The Freedom Tour is a celebration of this and the exciting and diverse cinema the country is producing. The tour has been showcasing films around the UK since last October and will run until the end of April 2015.

There’s a chance to catch some great films that screened at Film Africa 2014 in London this month: father-son relationships and the power of art to pave a path to freedom take centre stage in both Felix and Hear Me Move; the volatile world of Johannesburg gang culture is explored in the bombastic Four Corners; and South Africa’s burgeoning electronic music scene comes to life in Future Sound of Mzansi, presented by the internationally acclaimed artist Spoek Mathambo.

We look forward to seeing you at Film Africa 2015!
