Thank you for your interest in the Student Voices Campaign!

The Student Voices Campaign (SVC) invites students to make videos that creatively communicate what
matters to them and share them with their local school board. This fall, the California Alliance for Arts
Education will release an updated version of our Teacher’s Guide, which lays the campaign out as a project-based learning opportunity for classrooms. Sign up below to receive the Guide.

About the Guide: With support from the California Arts Council, the Alliance has developed a classroom guide that will:

  • Use California Social Studies Standards and National Core Media Arts Standards to structure the process, outcomes and assessment; other Arts and Common Core Standards will also be referenced as appropriate.
  • Use project-based learning so students can actively explore real-world problems and teachers can scale classroom participation from periods of a few weeks to several months during the course of a school year
  • Include learning for students grades 7–12 in a variety of subject areas (History/Social Studies, English, Media Arts, Theater, CTE)
  • Provide Common Core aligned learning about civics, local government and effective communication
  •  Provide a pathway for students to participate in community discussions and planning related to district’s Local Control Accountability Plans (LCAPs)
