Summer activities not too far off at Brian Head

BRIAN HEAD – Brian Head Resort has announced its summer attractions including new improved mountain bike trails and live entertainment through the summer months. Included at the base of the Giant Steps Lodge is a zipline, bungee trampoline, and 50-foot by 50-foot airbag used for base jumping. The base also includes a climbing wall and alpine tubing attractions.

“We’ve got some great stuff that we are running this summer,” said Austin Seymour of Brian Head Public Relations. “On top of the zipline and bungee trampoline and base jumping stuff, there is also the scenic lift rides, and we’ve improved the mountain bike trails up there.”

Seymour said the resort has disc golf courses that are accessible from both the Giant Steps Express and Navajo Chair No. 4, and hiking trails from the lifts are also available. Chair lifts are open for summer starting June 26 and running through Sept. 7. Lift hours are from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday for the Giant Steps Express and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the Navajo chair lift during the same days.

“Something we want to stress about this summer is our availability,” Seymour said. “Brian Head has something going on all the time including Sundays. There is always something to do up here. A lot of things in the area shut down on Sunday, but we are open and ready to entertain.”

The coming attractions include:

Fire Road Mountain Bike Day, June 28, a mountain bike race at the resort.

The annual Independence Day Celebration at Brian Head, July 4.

The Intermountain Bike Race and Car Show, July 25-26.

The Festival of Flavors, July 31-Aug. 1, a beer brewing and tasting festival.

The Brian Head BBQ competition and music festival, Aug. 22.

The outdoor terrain race at the resort, Aug. 29.

The Rocktoberfest and car show, Sept. 19-20.

Seymour also said $5 dinner specials and live music are featured at the Last Chair Saloon Friday and Saturday nights.
