Child, 11, severely burned in Lake Promenade apartment fire

One child was severely burned in a two-alarm apartment fire in the city’s west end on Tuesday morning.

Paramedics said three children — including the burned 11-year-old — and four adults are being treated for minor smoke inhalation in hospital.

The fire broke out in a second-floor unit at 230 Lake Promenade, near Lake Shore Boulevard and Long Branch Avenue, just before 10 a.m., Toronto police said.

A police officer, who was first on the scene and one of those transported to hospital, ran into the building and pulled out two children. He was later treated for smoke inhalation.
