Volvo’s Polestar Introduces New Electric Vehicle “Precept” with Plastic Bottle Seats
Being the most sustainable EV the world has ever seen, the Polestar Precept focuses on keeping the future green.
Electric vehicles are an exciting aspect of the present and the future, even more so when they include a strong sense of sustainability.
Volvo’s sub-brand, Polestar, released its next concept car on Tuesday: the Precept. This electric vehicle company isn’t solely focusing on pushing performance limits, instead, it’s opting to focus on its sustainable impact and vision.
The Precept is a step in an even greener direction.

The Precept concept
It’s sleek, it’s shiny, it’s brand new, and most importantly, it’s green. Not literally, of course. Polestar’s Precept is a four-door, electric sedan vehicle with a solid sporty look. The company has yet to disclose the vehicle’s figures with regards to power, acceleration, range, or battery capacity.
But what it did share was some impressive sustainability-focused information about the EV.

Volvo has been working hard at keeping this car’s environmental impact to an absolute minimum. For instance, the Precept has seat surfaces made up of 3D-knitted recycled PET bottles. Its bolsters and headrests are made out of recycled cork vinyl, and its carpets are from reclaimed fishing nets.
Offering a 50% saving in weight and reducing plastic waste by up to 80%, the car’s interior panels and seatbacks are made of flax-based composite materials.

The Precept comes with a 15-inch vertically oriented touch screen and a 12.5-inch driver’s display. Powered by Android, the car’s infotainment comes with a dynamic digital interface including proximity sensors and eye-tracking.
The car also has dual radar sensors, a high-definition camera at the front, a lidar sensor atop the car’s glass roof, camera-based side mirrors, and a digital screen linked to a wide-angle camera at the back of the car.
The Polestar Precept will be showcased at the Geneva International Motor Show, starting on March 5th.
