Absolutely delicious, clean, authentic Mexican food, pleasant staff. We ordered tacos and they were amazing, especially the al pastor. The price was very reasonable. This will be a weekly stop for sure!

Strip mall tacos! I am a long time fan of El Rey De Oros. Sadly I don't visit as often since they moved from SLC to the burbs. Even with the move their food is still excellent. My go to is tacos al pastor. But the carne asada is great as well. The house salsa has a nice kick but isn't overly hot. Nothing is overly expensive. I like the combo plate that comes with a sope, taco and burrito.
Service is very friendly. The cashier is the same woman from the old location. She speaks fluent English and Spanish. The dining room is showing its age.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 28, 2024Updated review8 check-ins
The food never disappoints. Good service but I am missing the pre inflation prices, but still a good value relative to every other restaurant who had to raise their prices. I still come here anyway and recommend.

I was absolutely impressed at the amount of food we paid for, the quality of service, and all delicious. Usually we go to Lopez but this is now our go to because of how much food we can get for the price.
For $5.99 you get 3 tacos, rice & beans, sliced veggie, lime wedge AND a drink!!
I had the pork carnitas and my husband had carne asado. Both were great although carnitas are my fav. We went to order just a few more tacos!
Absolutely recommend and will go back. We were there on Tuesday and it wasn't busy at all.

My friend and I thought the tacos were pretty good. I was surprised that I really liked the carrots. My friend LOVED his dulce de leche churro and I was jealous.

The tacos were delicious! I had carne asada, cabeza, and pastor. The tacos were authentic just like street tacos en Mexico!

When you show up to an eatery on a weekday at dinner time and it's packed, you know you found a good spot.
A friend at work told us to come here because it's the best street Mexican around. She was right.
The nachos are piled high with goodness and sides of guacamole (spicy) & hot sauce (didn't try). What we noticed that's different with these nachos are the grilled onions... makes a HUGE difference in overall taste in each bite!
We were told to try the pozole, which was at almost every table this night. It hits the spot on a cold March night. Served with chopped onion, lettuce, and radishes plus lime wedge and tortilla chips (light and nicely corn flavored). The pork is tender and hominy the right bite.
There are lots of meats to choose from (the wall menu has the Mexican word on the left and the English translation on the right), so we tried as many as we care for and liked them all. Juicy, tender, and tasty.
Jamaica isn't always on tap, tonight it was pineapple juice, so I'll have to call ahead and try Jamaica another time.
Too bad the bar next door means that the outside smokers hang out under the overhang (not at least 25' away like they're supposed to), so every time the restaurant door opens, gross cigarette smell wafts inside and stays awhile... until the door gets opened again and the smell permeates the dining area some more. Sigh.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 69160111Feb 18, 2023
Great place for cheap and quality food! I was super impressed by the speed that I was given my food and the kindness of the cashier for how busy it was during a lunch rush. I got the Number 21: a great deal for tacos and a drink. I also got a crema churro, and was so happy with how crispy it was. It was just a little hole in the wall, but it was clean and well loved. Already telling people that I want to come back.

Order at the counter, pick up at the window, sit down and enjoy! I had a burrito, my goto for evaluating Mexican food and it was very good. I've coke to adjust my CA expectations to the UT style of lots of protein and very little anything else. The meat was clean and flavorful (if a bit salty for my tastes). The proportion of (limited) ingredients was in balance. My lunch partner had enchiladas and he liked it so much didn't share. The only comment was that the cheese was a bit too much.
The prices are very good here, so maybe worth the trip to this unassuming strip mall. The staff was pleasant, although interaction is limited due to the service style.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennifer B.West Jordan, UT656May 12, 2023
The food here is so delicious every time I go eat there it's always fresh and delicious. And the customer service is amazing there too. I really recommend trying them out you won't be disappointed. The store is always clean and it's a small place but has a cute vibe.
Some of the food I have tried that I recommend is all there tacos the meat is always tender and fresh tasting, there sopa's are so dang good I had never tried one before I got one from there. The al pastor is my favorite meat there it's just the right kind of spice to it. There horchata is my favorite place to get it from.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
