Gene Stallings led Alabama to the 1992 national championship. Now, Alabama coaches are hoping his grandson will join the Crimson Tide and help add to its championship legacy.

J.C. Chalk, a 3-star tight end recruit from Argyle, Texas, told Bleacher Report that he was offered by Alabama earlier this week. Alabama is after several tight ends, including the nation's No. 2 tight end Kaden Smith.

But it will be a tough pull. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Chalk has been committed to Clemson for almost a year.

"I'm still just as firm with (Clemson) as when I first committed back when I was a sophomore," Chalk told Bleacher Report.

Texas A&M, where Stallings played and also coached, also has offered Chalk. He also has offers from the likes of Arizona State, Duke and Ole Miss.

Read the report from Bleacher Report and one from TigerNet.com about Chalk reaffirming his commitment to Clemson.

Stallings was Alabama's head coach from 1990-1996. He told TigerNet.com that Alabama head coach Nick Saban "just realized" who his grandfather was and while Alabama was his dream school in fifth grade, times have changed.
