As you know, ESMA specializes in ultrasonic cleaning equipment that is used to clean instruments and parts in many different industries. But how exactly does the equipment work? What do we mean when we say ultrasonic cleaning? Well, there is a scientific explanation for the process that might help you understand what our equipment does. Ultrasonic cleaning is really another way to describe what can technically be called ultrasonic agitation. Read on to find out more about how ultrasonic agitation works.
An ultrasonic cleaner has a chamber within which it can generate an ultrasonic frequency. When the chamber is filled with water or some other cleaning solvent, the high frequencies move through the liquid causing a disturbance. This disturbance agitates the surface of any object placed in the liquid, effectively scrubbing it clean while the ultrasonic frequency is present.
The high frequency ultrasonic waves in the solution are generated by a component of the machine called the transducer. An important word to know in relation to ultrasonic agitation is “cavitation”. This refers to the way in which the ultrasonic waves from the transducer pull the liquid apart, creating thousands of microscopic vacuum bubbles. The enormous energy of these bubbles is released as they collapse, causing the agitation that removes dirt from the object in the tank.
Most cleaning solution that is used in an ultrasonic cleaner is designed to reduce the surface tension so that the cavitation can have more energy and produce a greater effect. While water or a water-based product may work, it will not be powerful enough to effectively remove tough dirt or grease. Small metal parts are ideal of ultrasonic cleaning because they tend to be made of non-absorbent metals and and they are difficult to clean by hand.
Now that you know how ultrasonic agitation works, it will be easier to understand the convenience of an ultrasonic cleaning machine. At ESMA, we supply customers in many different industries with the right ultrasonic cleaning technology for their workplace. Our products have been recognized for their quality worldwide, so call today and find out what we can do for you.
