These Chinese Farmers Built Giant Transformers With Scrap Metal

There's more than meets the eye.

A father and son in China have built amazing giant replicas of Transformers using scrap pieces of metal and instructions downloaded from the internet.

According to the Daily Mail, peasant farmer Yu Zhilin and his son Yu Lingyun started building the robots following the commercial success the Transformers franchise has had in China.

The replicas are made mostly from pieces of disused cars and put together in a small makeshift factory in the city of Hengyang.

The duo are part of a growing trend in the country, where people are building exact copies of the notable movie characters and then selling them for thousands of dollars.

The last lot of Transformer replicas Yu Zhilin and his son built sold for just under US $160,000.
