Nine-year-old Bethany rocks new hair cut after charity chop

A nine-year-old is enjoying a dramatic new style after donating 16 inches of her hair to a charity which makes wigs for children with cancer.

Bethany Haynes, who attends Frisby Primary School, had her hair cut at at Melton’s Jago’s Hair Design and Beauty Centre, on Saturday.

She also raised more than £270 for the Little Princess Trust, a national charity which provides real hair wigs for youngsters who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Dad Jon Haynes, who supported Bethany on the day, said: “Beth had 16 inches taken off. Michaela, her hairdresser was really nice and allowed the family to cut off a plat of hair each.

“She would like to thank everybody who has donated money and is thinking about growing and donating her hair again in a few years time.”

Beth had set her sights on raising at least £350 - the amount it costs to make each wig. Her online fundraising page online is open until May 30 for extra donations.

Beth has been invited to appear on BBC Radio Leicester on Saturday, from 12noon, in an attempt to raise more funds and reach her fundraising target.
