Civilian aircraft crash, one Marine fatality aboard MCAS Yuma

A T-59 Hawk, civilian aircraft, crashed at approximately 11:45 a.m. on a MCAS Yuma runway Wednesday.

Lance Cpl. Anthony T. DuBeau died as a result of injuries sustained from the crash when the aircraft impacted a government vehicle. DuBeau was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS) aboard MCAS Yuma.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the Marine we lost in this tragic accident," stated MCAS Yuma Commanding Officer, Col. Ricardo Martinez. "We at MCAS Yuma stand ready to provide support to his family."

DuBeau, 23, a native of Kenosha, WI., enlisted in the Marine Corps April 1, 2013. He served within H&HS as an aviation operations specialist. His personal awards include the National Defense Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Medal.

Some of DuBeau's daily duties included inspecting the airfield for any discrepancies, creating and disseminating deployment schedules, status reports on on-going airfield construction projects, and releasing flight plans received from pilots.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
