Excerpt:

Audray goes in search of her human past:
The seedy outskirts of her birthplace announced the town as surely as any billboard. Recalling how close the trailer park was to the freeway, she had no trouble locating Riverbend Estates, though the sign was still unrepaired from the rifle shots fired at it some twenty years ago.
Bet that would be a story.
She entered the potholed drive, avoiding two white chickens as they scurried past. There certainly wasn’t a river in sight, and these trailer homes were not estates—they were dumps on wheels. A small band of bedraggled children were playing with sticks at the side of the road. Girls in dirty rags and bare feet carried naked dolls by the hair.
Nobody was smiling, but they looked at the car.
Slowly, Audray pulled up to a concrete parking pad near the trailer with a torn front door screen. The door was open.
Is she home?

About the Author:

Sharon’s NYT and USA Today bestselling novels are almost-erotic Navy SEAL stories of the SEAL Brotherhood. Her characters follow a spicy road to redemption through passion and true love. This series continues with book 8, SEAL's Promise, which will release November 11, 2014. All of her SEAL Brotherhood Series are available in audio book. She has maintained an Amazon top 100 author status in Romantic Suspense for since the end of 2012.

Her Golden Vampires of Tuscany are not like any vamps you’ve read before, since they don’t have to go to ground, and can walk around in the full light of the sun. Honeymoon Bite, Book 1 of the Golden Vampires of Tuscany Series, has earned the Amazon designation of #1 Gothic Romance. It and Book 2 in the series, Mortal Bite are both available on audio as well.

Her Guardian Angels struggle with the human charges they are sent to save, often escaping their vanilla world of Heaven for the brief human one. You won’t find any of these beings in any Sunday school class.

Sharon lives in Sonoma County, California, with her husband and two Dobermans. A lifelong organic gardener, when she’s not writing, she’s getting verra verra dirty in the mud, or wandering Farmer’s Markets looking for new Heirloom varieties of vegetables and flowers.

"True Love Heals in the Gardens of the Heart"

Interview
Where are you from?
Born and raised in Northern California, Wine Country, Sonoma County.
Tell us your latest news?
Releasing SEAL My Home on 3/31/15. This is Book 2 of the Bad Boys of SEAL Team 3, my 9th book in the SEAL Brotherhood Series
Recently released Underworld Queen, the 3rd book in The Guardians series (Guardian angels unlike what you’ve learned about in Sunday School)
When and why did you begin writing?
Our house burned down in 2008, destroying most of everything. Forced to live in an apartment for 18 months while we braved the wilds of getting permits to build in a highly restrictive area, and in the process having our mortgage bank taken over the Feds who did not want to release our proceeds, and other things occurring in my career as a Realtor, I took a detour. I think we call them “Plot Twists” and I kept on going.
Sat down to write on December 15 2008 and finished a 90k (terrible book) by January 15, 2009. I discovered I was hooked and never went back to real estate.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I guess that would be when I got my first Amazon check, all $16.20 of it!! But I was paid to write, something bigger than $10 so a check could be issued, and still wanted to write, even though the monetary reward was small at first.
I think if you can continue to do what you love to do, even when it doesn’t pay off right away, it means you were meant to do it.  (Oops! Assuming it’s good for you to do, I should add).
I’ve journaled ever since I was 5.
What inspired you to write your first book?
That’s the story up top.
And after I pitched that story, a
Do you have a specific writing style?
Let the first 8-10 chapters come organically. I know the hero and heroine and what they’ll battle internally. The external comes while I develop the first chapters, trying not to repeat anything too much like the previous ones. That said, I kind of have a pattern I use. I also try to follow the Alex Sokoloff method of playwriting for authors. Then I take too long and jam like hell at the end. I get re-inspired as I work hard at the end to finish and polish. That’s the hard work.
How did you come up with the title?
This Guardian theme is a series. Every bad girl deserves her Happily Ever After. She was the biggest main character in the first book, Heavenly Lover, who didn’t have her own book. And since the twist is that she’s the first-ever woman Director of the Underworld, I kept the title close to the plot.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
True love heals in the gardens of the heart. Same theme in all my books. I also lace in there some good vs. evil, and how much stronger the Heavenly side is than the Evil side. I don’t use Hell, it’s the Underworld. Heaven isn’t 100% perfect by design. The Underworld isn’t 100% evil by accident. That’s the series meme.
How much of the book is realistic?
Good lord! If it is, I’m brilliant!
No, I feel true love can heal anything. It’s a way I live my life.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
I think the characters are compillations I’ve developed over the years running 2 successful businesses, raising 4 children and a husband.
What books have most influenced your life most?
Outlander because Jamie Fraser is the best hero written, in my opinion. Twilight series because I thought I could do better.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Would love to have Diana Gabaldon as a mentor, but I’ve learned so much from Bella Andre and Tina Folsom, and also consider them some of my best friends.
What book are you reading now?
Having just finished a book this week, I’m not. Will be a military romantic suspense, though.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
I’ve enjoyed meeting Cristin Harber very much. Most my newer author friends are not new authors, just new to me. I’m intrigued with the NA and YA market, but not sure I can do anything at this point but stick my toe into a book occasionally.
What are your current projects?
In have a fun paranormal planned called Gideon: Fall From Grace about a vampire who was mistakenly misdiagnosed and was turned into a Guardian. He’s a very messed up preternatural being and pissed at his lot in life. That will be done this summer.
I also have 2 other SEAL books slated for this summer, one on 6/30 and the other later in the fall.
What would you like my readers to know?
I love interacting with readers. I love writing blog posts, so if any of your readers like to have authors join them on their blogs, I’m your baby. I have an active street team, and we have a lot of fun. I’m floored more people don’t listen to audio and I partner with the best narrator on the planet, J.D. Hart. He’s a Nashville former musician and actor and his voice brings my stories to life. I’m a long-time organic gardener and my favorite thing to do on a Sunday is to wander down the nursery aisles, any time of year. I love Farmer’s Markets and looking at community or backyard gardens. I love to travel, especially cruising. I like lots of color in my life and I’m still wearing bright clothes that embarrassed my kids when they were little. I am a fierce supporter of the military and all they do for me. I enjoy my freedom and never want it taken for granted. Married to the same man for more years than I want to say, so I believe in true love and relationships that last a lifetime. I’m a good friend to have and a fierce enemy because I do get even, even if it takes awhile. I usually act before I think and that is sometimes a good thing, sometimes a bad thing. I laugh a lot because it warms my soul.
