TORONTO- Two police officers were taken to hospital following a traffic accident in the city’s west-end Sunday evening, paramedics confirmed.
Police say the officers were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle when their cruiser collided with the stolen car, identified as a Honda, on Emmett Avenue near Jane Street and Eglinton Avenue W.
Five males have been arrested and are being held in custody in connection with the stolen vehicle.
One officer suffered injuries from the impact of the collision, while the second officer was injured during a pursuit on foot, police said. One officer has since been released from the hospital.
Emmett Avenue was closed between Verona Avenue and Eglinton Avenue West for several hours during the police investigation.
