Description:

Sasha Alexander has a powerful ability.

Either that, or she’s dangerously mad. She isn’t always sure which.

Her father shrouds her in isolation, convinced he’s protecting her from the same madness that took her mother. But the seven impossible guardians that only she can see insist she’s gifted. Her companions since her mother’s suicide a decade ago, they protect her from hurt, pain and fear.

They also keep her from feeling love.

Sasha doesn’t know how to react when Noah explodes through her defenses. This strange young man with the scarred hands suddenly makes her feel again. And she wants more. More of Noah, of his wakening touch. But the guardians don’t want to lose their decade-long hold, while her father despises Noah on sight.

Sasha risks exposing Noah to a world that would cheerfully see him dead.

But unless she can learn to control her own emotions, the biggest danger to them all may be Sasha herself.

My Review

What a unique story! We start out in the beginning with a girl who just seems... BLAH. She can't feel anything. Her mother committed suicide because of the ability they share. Sasha should have lost her mind. Felt something. But she can't. She has guardians. Who kind of creep me out by the way. They literally guard her emotions from herself. They keep her from feeling her own emotions because her emotions could end the world... Or at least end lives.

I loved Sasha one she got those feelings. Noah was an accident to her. She all of a sudden has an overwhelming amount of feelings floating around in her, which she hadn't felt in YEARS! I mean his single finger touching her almost dropped her to her knees. And then, her guardians start becoming a threat to him. I loved how the author made you freak out right along with Sasha. I FELT her emotions when she did. It's a little mind blowing to think about how that must be, to live without feeling.

The writing is well done, and I really liked this story line. It's not like many things I've read before. That alone kept me reading without stopping. I was so intrigued by how Sasha's powers worked, and what would really happen if she felt something. Anything. So with that, I enjoyed this story. 4.5 PAWS!

About The Author:

Vicki Keire grew up in a 19th Century haunted house in the Deep South full of books, abandoned coal chutes, and plenty of places to get into trouble with her siblings. She spent the last decade teaching writing and literature at a large, football-obsessed university while slipping paranormal fiction in between the pages of her textbooks.

Published works include the bestselling Angel’s Edge series, which includes Gifts of the Blood, Darkness in the Blood, and Blood Redemption, The Chronicles of Nowhere series, and the stand-alone novel Daughter of Glass. She is included in the Dark Tomorrows anthology with J.L. Bryan and Amanda Hocking, and the Primetime anthology with J.R. Rain and Anita Exley.

When not reading and writing about all things paranormal, she enjoys other people’s cooking and keeps vampire hours. She’d rather burn the laundry than fold it, and believes that when an author wins the Newberry, he or she gets a secret lifetime pass to Neverland. She is fond of lost causes and loud music. She currently resides in Central Florida on a lake-front farm full of many furry friends. She loves hearing from readers and can be reached on most social media sites or through her blog (link: http://www.vickikeire.blogspot.com/), of which she is awfully fond.
