UConn women's hoops is like Godzilla with rocket launchers strapped to its arms

It's no surprise that UConn is really good at women's basketball. They've won the last two national titles and four of the last six. But after their 105-54 beatdown of 5-seeded Texas in the Sweet 16, we would like to take a moment to appreciate how thoroughly they're destroying everybody in their path.

-- In their three NCAA Tournament games, UConn has outscored the opposition 285-142, almost exactly doubling them. That's an average score of 95-47.3.

-- The team UConn eviscerated today, Texas, isn't bad! They went 24-11 and finished third in the Big 12! They started the year 13-0! They beat 4th-ranked Tennessee, which is still alive in the Sweet 16, and 6th-ranked Stanford, which is the only team to beat UConn this year. That team just lost by 50!

-- This is actually better than UConn was in the last two years, both of which resulted in national championships -- last year, they were outscoring opponents 248-147, only an average of 82.7-49, and the year before it was 258-131, only an average of 86-43.7.

-- It's not like every great team is blowing out their opponents: 1-seed South Carolina won their Sweet 16 game over North Carolina by just two points, 67-65. 1-seeded Maryland beat 8-seeded Princeton comfortably, but by only 15, with a final score of 85-70. 1-seeded Notre Dame cracked the 20-point barrier in their 81-60 Sweet 16 win over Stanford, but just barely.

-- UConn has doubled up its opponent in 17 of its 36 games. They've tripled their opponent once, in a 96-31 win over Cincinnati.

-- 32 of their 36 games have been wins by 20 points. 28 have been 30-point wins. 20 have been 40-point wins. One has been a loss.

-- Kentucky, that men's team? They're better their opponents. Not close to this much better:

It's possible the Huskies lose one of their last games of the season. But considering how absolutely dominant they've been, it's more likely we'll be talking about them winning a third straight national championship.
