Congresswoman signs up for lessons after ‘worst parking job ever’

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) has agreed to sign up for parking lessons after video of her disastrous parking job outside of the Capitol went viral this week.

Holmes Norton told My Fox D.C. that she was rushing because she was late for a television interview and didn’t expect that construction would force her to park in a slanted parking spot.

{mosads}“Deadline, no way to get there, got to get it done,” she said.

“I have signed up for parking lessons and I’m even thinking about upgrading to a self-parking car.”

Roll Call first obtained footage of the delegate’s parking pitfall, which flew across Capitol Hill and became the subject of “worst parking job ever” jokes on Twitter.

Benjamin Fritsch, Holmes Norton’s communications director, told The Hill that she didn’t do any damage to the cars immediately surrounding her and that the owner of the closest car had already reached out to the office.

But it’s possible D.C.’s delegate in Congress shouldn’t count on a self-driving car to cure her woes either. When she got behind the wheels of a driverless Cadillac created by Carnegie Mellon University, she hit the kill switch designed to stop the car in an emergency and the car broke.
