Staten Island Pets: Dogs and cats are looking for loving homes this weekend

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Sara is an adorable, young shih tzu who was found as a stray. Oso is a big, friendly pit bull/mix who was scheduled for euthanasia when he was pulled from a shelter and saved. Max, a handsome tabby, was in a loving home but was sadly surrendered because his family's new baby is allergic to cats.

These are just three of the many dogs and cats, kittens and puppies who are being cared for by Staten Island volunteer rescue groups while they wait for their forever homes. Stop by and meet them this weekend at adoption events at Petsmart in Port Richmond, Petco stores in New Springville and Charleston and at Country Estate Kennels in Charleston. You might find your new best friend.

All the animals are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations and ready to go.
