City-wide scavenger hunts are always fun, but Open House New York is giving its latest hunt a gorgeous twist. The nonprofit, which gives New Yorkers access to hundreds of off-limit buildings every year, has teamed up with the New York School of Interior Design to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the landmarks law with the first ever Landmark Dash. The day-long event will lead teams to interior landmarks across three of the five boroughs in a race for points and prizes. The event is already sold out, but you can still join the fun; Curbed is giving away two team registrations, worth $160 each.
During the Landmark Dash, teams (groups of two to four people) will visit a selection of interior landmarks where they will have to complete challenges in order to win points and learn the next location. The list of sites is a "closely guarded secret," and the route, which includes "a dozen or so" sites, will only be revealed after participants complete their tasks. Prizes will be awarded to the teams with the most points, and winners will be able to choose to have a private tour of an interior landmark.
To enter to win a team registration, send Curbed a poem about the interior landmark you most wish to see during the scavenger hunt. The New York School of Interior Design is currently hosting an exhibition about the city's 115 interior landmarks, and photos of every site are available on the school's website.
