FLORENCE, Ala. – A former nurse has been arrested and charged with abusing a 96-year-old patient, Florence Police said.

27-year-old Labarbara Deshay Currin was arrested Tuesday by U.S. Marshalls and charged with elder abuse.

Investigators said Currin is accused of hitting the elderly woman in the head several times and twisting the woman’s arm while she worked at a nursing home in Florence.

Police said the incident allegedly happened in early August.
