Former Auburn coach Tony Barbee could be back on the sidelines as a head coach next season.

Barbee has been targeted for the opening at Nevada and is expected to meet with the program next week, according to Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com. Parrish cites an anonymous source.

Barbee joined Kentucky as a special assistant to coach John Calipari following his firing at Auburn in March 2014. Barbee was 49-75 overall and 18-50 in the SEC during his four seasons as the Tigers' head coach.

Kentucky advanced to the Sweet 16 with a victory Saturday against Cincinnati.

Nevada fired coach David Carter following a 9-22 season, the fourth losing season in the last five seasons.

Barbee made headlines this week when it was revealed his recruiting budget at Auburn ranked in the top 5 nationally. The Tigers never had a winning season on his watch.
