Glen Campbell is in the final stages of his battle with Alzheimer's, but his family's battle over his assets has only just begun after the singer's two eldest children petitioned to wrest legal power from his wife of 32 years.

Reports arose on Thursday revealing that Campbell's children, Debby Campbell-Cloyd and Travis Campbell, filed a court petition in January demanding that Kim Campbell relinquish medical and financial authority over their father and his assets. The pair claim that their stepmother is keeping their 78-year-old father "secluded from the rest of the family" which has "prohibited [them] from participating in his care and/or treatment," according to the Associated Press.

The petition also claims that Campbell is not providing her husband with necessary toiletries and clothing, not visiting him regularly and possibly mishandling his finances. Moreover, Campbell and Campbell-Cloyd's petition claims that several of his children are not on his list of allowed visitors. The iconic country music singer has eight children in total; the youngest three he shares with Kim.

Campbell, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2011, is now living at a Nashville long-term care facility as his condition continues to deteriorate. The singer is best known for his hit songs "Galveston" and "Wichita Lineman," among many others, and his 70-year career has seen 70 albums and a supporting role in the original "True Grit" film. Campbell's condition, as well as his farewell tour, were featured in last year's documentary "Glen Campbell… I'll Be Me."

In a recent interview with The Christian Post, Kim Campbell defended her decision to move her husband into long-term care facility, citing that she is there nearly every day.

"It's what is best for me and family, and it's what he would want me to do," she said last year. "It would be impossible otherwise and it's an extension of my home. I'm there every day except for when I'm out promoting ['I'll Be Me']."

Furthermore, Campbell detailed the care she offers her husband, despite his living in the facility.

"I bathe him, I change his clothes ... it's not easy, he doesn't not want to get wet, he won't shower, he gets mad," she explained. "This is the stuff people do not talk about. You want to protect their dignity, and it affects everybody in a different way, a lot of people in the same way. He has gotten really physical with other aids, that's one reason I do it, he will handle it better with me."

Meanwhile, Kim Campbell recently attended the Oscar Awards on behalf of her husband, who was nominated for Best Original Song with "Not Gonna Miss You" from "I'll Be Me."
