A Transitional Must Have + WIW

Morning ladies today I thought we'd talk biker jackets.  A key wardrobe 'must have' that is so useful during the change over in seasons.  In fact I'd go so far as to say it's probably the most worn jacket in my wardrobe as it's something I wear all year long.  Perfect for pairing with a maxi skirt or dress, looks fab with denim & even looks great with a pair of cigarette pants.  Then come the colder months if worn with a thermal, chunky knitwear & a cashmere scarf it will still keep you stylish & toasty.

I know some ladies can worry that they're too old to wear a biker jacket, but if you're one of them you needn't worry, as with anything it's all down to how you style it.  Of course if you're concerned then make sure you go for a style that's classic & simple, without too many zips or stud detailing then imagine it with a worn with a simple classic white shirt, ballet flats & cigarette pants - like I say timeless.

As you can see above I've put together my picks from the high street for the current season & as always you can just click on any of the images above for further details.  Hopefully there's something  to suit all budgets.  As you can see I've stuck to a pretty timeless design & included a few different colour options as well some real & faux leather & suede numbers.

In terms of which colour to pick I'd recommend you opt for a neutral colour such as black or navy, if it's your first biker jacket as it will go with most things in your wardrobe.  In fact I bet you'll be surprised just how much you wear it once you've taken the plunge.  However, if you already own a neutral one & live in it then consider going for a colour,  something that will add a splash of interest to all your wardrobe neutrals such as burgundy red or if you don't want to feel too out there a soft grey would look stunning.

As for choosing between real or faux then it's basically a case of buying the best your budget allows.  If you can buy leather then do so, as it really will earn it's keep relatively quickly.  Plus of course it will also get better with age & if you do intend to be able to wear chunky knits underneath it's worth trying it on at home with a jumper just to make sure you can still move & raise your arms.  I wouldn't worry too much if it feels a little too tight to do it up with a thick jumper as you probably won't want to wear it like that & also remember if you're going for a leather one, the leather will stretch & give slightly with wear.

Back to today & after a couple of big nights/days out it's all about simple dressing for me.  This outfit is something that would be perfect teamed with a biker jacket, although for today I'm literally just throwing on a bright coloured maxi & finishing the look off with comfy trainers & a cross body bag.   Like I said simple & easy.
