The Town of Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for those looking to build the foundation for an executive career in City Management.  We are now accepting applications for the position of Assistant to The Town Manager.  Assistants hired will be expected to serve for a minimum of two years.  The positions are intended as a development opportunity for individuals with a passion for public service, and offer involvement in high-level projects, programs and initiatives that impact the Town of Gilbert and the service we provide to our residents.  Assignments may include but would not be limited to: IT project management and system implementations; finance, accounting and budget projects; and interim leadership assignments that support the organization's Mission, Vision and Values and achieve best-in-class service.

Ideal candidates will have a diverse municipal management background and be highly skilled in: communication (listening, writing, speaking); project management; research, analysis and reporting; preparation and presentation of complex information to diverse audiences; preparing and analyzing budgets and evaluating program efficiency and effectiveness, specifically through performance benchmarking and metrics;  development, interpretation and consistent application of policy; and effectively managing work teams and staff with divergent perspectives.  They will be highly motivated and self-directed, adept at finding common sense, well-reasoned approaches to difficult problems, and will display unwavering personal integrity and a strong commitment to public service.  They will be known as results-oriented collaborators and team builders - individuals who plan and organize for success, then follow through to completion - engaged in and especially motivated by the success of others.   

Requirements include a Master's degree (or completion of one before July 1st) in public or business administration and three to five years of management experience to include working with executive-level, local government staff members, and authority for program direction and budget administration.  Management and/or supervisory experience is highly desirable.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
