Olbermann: Comey might as well have said Mueller is investigating Trump on obstruction of justice

Veteran newscaster Keith Olbermann explained the political and legal ramifications of James Comey's testimony to Congress in the latest episode "The Resistance."

"James Comey has now implied under oath, that the President of the United States is being investigated by the Justice Department for possible collusion with the Russian government in tampering with the 2016 election," Olbermann explained. "And that the President of the United States is also being investigated for possible obstruction of justice."

"Special Counsel Mueller is investigating Donald Trump, perhaps right now, about collusion with Russia," Olbermann deduced.

"Based on Comey's testimony, it looks all but certain that the actions of the President of the United States are under investigation -- under investigation by the Special Counsel on Trump and Russia from the Justice Department," Olbermann concluded. "Under investigation as possible collusion with the Russians and possible attempts to obstruct justice."

Comey's riveting testimony captivated much of the country on Thursday.

“I take the president at his word — I was fired because of the Russia investigation,” the former FBI Director said.

Comey didn't mince words when describing how President Trump defamed the FBI, "Lies, plain and simple."

“Politically, I thought it was very damaging to the president,” Fox News host Chris Wallace said shortly after Comey’s testimony ended. “Repeatedly, James Comey called the president a liar, said that he lied that the FBI was in disarray, that he defamed him, defamed the FBI. [He] said that the reason he kept those kinds of notes in the first place was because this was the kind of man who would lie about those kinds of things.”
