An 11-year-old Celtic fan with Down's Syndrome has won the SPFL's January Goal of the Month competition.

Jay Beatty was invited to take a penalty at half-time of the Hoops' 2-0 win over Hamilton on January 19 - and netted with consummate ease.

Former Celtic striker Georgios Samaras announced Beatty as the winner of the competition after he received 97% of the votes on the SPFL website.

Jay, affectionately known as Wee Jay due to his small size, was thrust into the public spotlight by Samaras last year when the Greek striker plucked him out of the crowd to involve him in Celtic's title celebrations.

A video of the youngster celebrating with the Hoops went viral last year, amassing in excess of two million views.

Last year Samaras said: "This boy gives me so much strength, it's incredible.

"There are no words. I feel his love so much. This love I feel, is also felt by many people in Greece."
