Starred Kirkus Review: “A delightfully complex mystery with a compelling protagonist.”

The Bottom-Up Revolution
Mike Rivage-Seul in CounterPunch: "Kall’s Bottom-Up Revolution: Mastering the Emerging World of Connectivity is a perfect text for secondary and post-secondary courses in history, sociology, political science, critical thinking, writing, and even economics."

Unlikely Pilgrim
F.H. Buckley in the Washington Examiner: "The book describes a spiritual odyssey, as well as an account of visits to remote places, that takes it out of the realm of ordinary travel books, and makes it a classic that deserves to be long remembered."

Getting to Know You
Do you set a yearly reading goal?

Current Reads
In an effort to get you to know us a little better, we'll be showing you what we're currently reading or will be reading! To do so, we ask ourselves the following questions:

What are you currently reading?
Why did you pick it up?
Would you recommend it? If yes, to who?
What rating would you give it out of five stars?

Megan:
  • Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan
  • I recently read the first two books in the series "Crazy Rich Asians."
  • I would recommend this book if  you have read the other two books. So far it is an enjoyable read. I am having fun catching up with the characters from the first books and meeting new characters.
  • 4 stars
Karen:
  • City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert
  • Because it was getting a lot of publicity and I have been reading a lot of bestsellers recently. I also enjoyed Eat, Pray, Love and I saw the author at BookExpo a couple of years ago and she was funny.
  • Yes, I would recommend it to adult women. I found the narrator of the story a bit frustrating because she was addressing a character who you don't meet until very close to the end of the book. I really liked the first part of the book as the story was fun and fast moving but I LOVED the 2nd part of the book as that felt like a beautifully crafted story. That may have been the intention of the author … I am still thinking about it as I just finished the book last night.
  • 4 stars (because the subject matter gets pretty heavy)
Madeline:
  • The Dog Who Lost His Bark by Eoin Colfer
  • I saw an ARC at BookExpo and fell in love with the adorable puppy on the cover! (The illustrations throughout are adorable as well, done by P.J. Lynch)
  • Yes, I would recommend it to kids, and to adults who love a simple story and wonderful illustrations. Fans of A Dog’s Life and those who love the feel of A Dog’s Purpose (or who will in a couple years!)
  • 4 stars (because I haven’t finished just yet)

Thank you for reading. Since we are new to this, over the next few months we will be trying different things within our newsletter so thank you in advance for your patience!

We hope everyone is having a great summer: Try to stay cool!

See you next month,

ABOUT US

We're an independent publisher based in New York City. We publish a mix of non-fiction and fiction titles, with about 15–20 new titles each year. Since 2007, we've published four New York Times bestsellers: If I Did It by the Goldman Family, Hide!!! by Jeff Foxworthy, The Comeback by Consumer Electronics Association President Gary Shapiro, and One Nation Under Taught by Dr. Vince M. Bertram.

At Beaufort Books, we favor a collaborative process in which the publisher and the author work together to create a beautiful book and design unique publicity, marketing, and sales plans that makes sense for each individual book.
