Missing: Newtown Square Eighth Grader Cayman Naib

13-year-old Shipley School student left his home Wednesday and hasn't been seen since.

[UPDATE] New information about the search for Cayman Naib has come out via a Facebook community page launched to assist in the search. Among the details are that Naib left shortly after receiving an email from his school, and that he was seen walking on Church Road shortly after his disappearance.

[ORIGINAL] One thing we know from missing-persons cases: The sooner the search gets started, the more positive the outcome is likely to be. Police in Newtown Township are now looking for a 13-year-old boy who went missing last night at around 6:30 p.m. Cayman Naib apparently left his Delco home on Harrison Drive without his wallet or his phone, dressed in black ski pants, hiking boots and a gray down winter jacket. But given that it was fairly balmy last night, he might not have anticipated the severity of today’s weather.

Cayman is a student at The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr. Today, Steve Piltch, Shipley’s Head of School, sent an email out to Shipley families with details of Cayman’s disappearance. He also wrote:

Middle School Head, Shane Kinsella, and I have had contact with the family. Cayman’s sister Savannah is in ninth grade at Shipley and his parents, Farid and Becky, are terrific people. They have contacted police and are aware that we are sending you this email. We hope that Cayman is ok and are saying our prayers.

Police believe Cayman, who is 5′ 7″ and 110 pounds, could be in Philly, or in the Radnor/Wayne area. The hashtag #findcayman is starting to gather steam on social media. If anybody has any information on his whereabouts, please contact investigator William Moor at 610-356-0602 or moorw@newtowntownship.org.
