I started this book blindly. I did not read any reviews. The story line was obviously up my alley... Shifters. Dragon shifters? Bring it on. This book surprised me. I was a little surprised at the beginning being set in a carnival type setting. But as it went along, and the action never stopped, I was really hooked. There were moments that time skipped, and you wondered what was going on. I had to go back a couple times because I thought I missed something. But no, it's the suspense of what happened. Style of writing was just a little different. I'm excited to read the next book.
I was given a copy of this book for my honest review...

This is the start of a magical fantasy adventure. Let’s face it, if it’s got dragons in, it’s a winner. It encompasses fantasy and trust, love and loyalty of true friends.
This is one of those books that reads so easily. You fall into the world effortlessly.

I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

Brilliant read.

Contemporary, Paranormal, Romance

Kyra figures that saving Marcus’s life should count as a good deed though that isn’t what motivated her to do it. Something supernatural pulled her to do it. When Marcus sees Kyra’s hybrid dragon she finds herself bound to protect him. What makes things worse is that a bond between Kyra and her best friend, Sebastian is causing tension between them. Kyra is determined to defy Death even if that cost is her own life.

Sebastian’s life is built around his tarot cards even more so when he takes refuge at Mystic’s Magical Carnival. Everything goes wrong when he tries to include Kyra in that part of his life. Kyra’s interest in Marcus is now standing between her and Sebastian. It also puts Kyra in emanate danger. Sebastian needs to save her from the consequences of her decisions by making her see and steering her away from Marcus before it is too late. Sebastian is determined to do that even if the only way to save her is by baring his most guarded secrets.

This proves to be a story that keeps readers wondering just what will happen next. It is fast paced and keeps the reader glued to the pages as they read to see what is going on and just what will happen next. The characters are interesting and colorful and makes for a story that is intriguing. It has a bit of a cliffhanger at the end but overall it is very well written and readers will want to know what happens next in the next story. It has a mystery threaded through the story that will keep the readers wondering just where this one is headed and what will happen in the end. The paranormal characters make for a story that will have readers wondering just what will show up next in it.

I enjoyed the majority of this book, and I loved that the story is unique. In this book, Kyra is a dragon of sorts, but she is a hybrid, so she has trouble fitting in, so she has left home, and ends up being part of a magical carnival. I loved the whole magical carnival premise! It's lots of fun! And I love that Kyra is a dragonshifter! So cool! I do like Kyra, but she did get on my nerves when she wouldn't follow her heart or trust her misgivings about people or things. Everyone in this book is too secretive, which of course leads to problems! Sebastian is great! And I really like the mystery around him, and what his story actually ends up being. In this book, the characters have to deal with the issues that arise when you butt into things you should've left alone, so be prepared for stupid decisions abound! I was thinking this was a YA story, and for the most part it reads like it is, but then BOOM! things make a turn for the dark side. This is sort of a spoiler, so you have been warned!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!

There is mind rape and actual rape, although the character being raped doesn't really get that she is being raped because of the whole mind rape thing, and it really came out of nowhere for me! I actually felt devastated when it happened because it was so shocking and it didn't fit the tone for the rest of the book.

I'm looking forward to continuing the next story, this book definitely kept me interested till the very end, so I expect the next book will as well.

Take a step into a world where carnivals summon you, dragons exist, magic occurs, and evil lurks.

Debra Kristi takes you into her beautifully magical world. This world is very complex and is full of secrets. If you aren't careful at Mystics, you may get lost. It is always changing.

The Moorigad Dragon is about a young girl who decides to run away, because she no longer fits in with her own famiy. To her surprise, Mystic's carnival finds her.

"Mystic's brought you here through the mural's portal. She's been watching you for a while now and decided you needed a place to call home."

Here is where she meets Sebastian. Sebastian means the world to Kyra and makes the carnival feel like home to her.

"No longer did she burn, nor did he freeze. Their touch was a perfect body warmth."

Kyra and Sebastian see a man who needs help. Kyra risks exposing her true form to save this man. Little do they know, this man will ruin Kyra and try to wedge his way between Kyra and Sebastian. Can Sebastian save her?

Each character had to of been carefully selected before being placed into this story. Kristi puts so much detail into her characters. Her characters are so vivid and real that they easily come alive in your head as you read.

I'm so thankful that I have the full series in front of me, because I'm dying to jump back into this magical crazy world. I highly recommend this book!

In the first book Moorigad Dragon we meet Kyra and Sebastian. They worked at Mystic Carnival, a carnival that never sleeps. Kyra one saves a young man from drowning that right there was the being of her mistakes because he was marked for death. Now death is after his retribution. Around every corner is an obstacle in her way to keep this man safe, she’s a dragon so it would be easy for her right. Not when you have to keep a helpless human safe from death. It’s a wild and crazy ride that she wants to get off of but at what cost? Does death wants his payment, life for a life? Will it be hers?

A very strange read. I don't finish bad books. I finished this one in two days. Can't really describe it. Just when you think you know what is going on, everything changes and goes in another direction. fantasy, battles, romance, action, and dragons.

I was just so angry for most of this story that I simply wasn't able to get into it at all. I actually skimmed a whole lot of it just get thru it. The ending did get more interesting, but at the same time it also made me more mad....soooo yeah. I'll get to my problem with this in a bit.

The whole sentient carnival things was a neat idea, even if it makes little to no sense how any of it works. But it provides a home for all sorts of paranormals that don't have anywhere else to go. And that's where Kyra finds herself after she has been on the run for a while. She's a hybrid dragon, a mix of water and fire, so she really doesn't belong to either. Worse, her parents already have a fiance picked out for her.

Sebastian becomes her best friend at the carnival and she's also falling in love with him. It's pretty easy for the reader to figure out what Sebastian is, even if it takes Kyra until the end to figure it out herself. We don't get a whole lot from his perspective, but we do know he has many secrets and has been hiding from his family.

When Sebastian's father finds him is when the relationship between these two becomes strained. Sebastian asks Kyra to go out with him one night because he wants to tell her something important. But before he can do that, Kyra decides to save the life a guy that was in a fight and thrown into the river. Despite Sebastian's vehement objections.

It was at this point that I became all sorts of pissed off and annoyed with the story. Despite how she feels about Sebastian, for some inexplicable reason, Kyra feels herself become bound to this stranger (Marcus) and obligated to protect him. So about 98% of the thoughts in her head become about him. She always has to rush to his side, she gets jealous when he talks to other girls, and no matter the danger she always has to save him. She even goes so far as to bind her own soul to his because he's marked for death and she can't let him die. Are you for real?? Honestly, I don't know why I hated this so much. But I did. I really really did.

In the end you can't cheat death, and somebody needs to die. Just not anyone that could have been expected. Kyra finds herself without any memories of her life and Marcus manipulating her for some reason we don't quite know yet. But I hate him even more after what we get at the end than I did before. She really should have just let him die.

Book Review:

NOTE: THANK YOU MS. DEBRA FOR SENDING ME THE REVIEW COPY I DECIDED TO REVIEW THE BOOK INDIVIDUALLY.

A four star book review is never a bad book… really. it just seems to have some factors lacking in it and also this book has a series and I’m looking forward to what happens in the next two books. so before I tell you why I gave the book a four star rating I’ll talk about what happens in the begging of the book.

You’ll be acquainted with the Main character, Kyra and she’s at a store staring at some beef jerky…..and she is starving… and the dragon inside her is going crazy (like she has an inner dragon that is hidden inside her fleshy body) and because it seems that the dragon inside her had won, she ended up stealing the beef jerky from the store and the owner called the cops to chase her down and that’s what the cops did. She ran like hell and ended up in an alley, a Dead end with tons of Graffiti and also a Peculiar graffiti of a Carnival. The cops caught up to her and she is now cornered. But when she leaned near the wall, She passed through it and was welcomed in the Carnival by Zeke. She found out that she was at the Mystic Carnival where “Her Kind” belonged, and Zeke asked Sebastian to give Kyra a tour around the Carnival. And after the tour they became Best Friends (Ha!…….Best Friends……As If) and After a while Kyra and Sebastian went to the human world to talk, and for Sebastian to tell Kyra his Secret. When Sebastian was about to tell Kyra his secret there was a Brawl on the Bridge. Kyra didn’t know what has got into her but after the guy was thrown out the Bridge and into the lake to drown. Kyra went down to the water and Released her Dragon. (Partially) Kyra was a Different Kind of Dragon She wasn’t a Fire Dragon like her Father, nor a Water Serpent like her Mother. She was Both. A Moorigad Dragon as to what she says. and when she released part of her dragon self to save the unknown man from drowning Sebastian was….let’s say he got confused…(*cough*) Jealous…. The unknown man was alive and Kyra brought him back to the Mystic Carnival and got him some dry clothes from her next door neighbour. When everything was settled Kyra left the now known man by the name of Marcus, in her trailer to rest. So Kyra went to do her act in the carnival. After her act Kyra saw Chelsea ( The girl who likes Sebastian) who was looking for….well…..Sebastian. And Since Kyra still thinks that she doesn’t feel anything for Sebastian she tried to be a Matchmaker and kept on trying to make Sebastian go with Chelsea. And then some time after that happened Kyra saw Smoke; Smoke that’s probably made by a Fire; Smoke that is coming from where her trailer is. So Kyra ran as fast as she could to see what’s happening and then saw her Trailer on Fire with Marcus in it. Kyra did her best to release Marcus from the Blazing trailer but there is Magic Hindering her from doing so. and it was Higgins who rescued Marcus with a Big Yellow Backhoe, After saving Marcus. Kyra was curious as to where Higgins got the Backhoe which she never saw in her entire stay in the Mystic Carnival and how he knew that they were in trouble. The only thing Higgins said was that he Sensed it. Marcus wasn’t hurt that much and thanked Kyra for saving his life yet again. Kyra on the other hand felt something weird, ever since Marcus came. To Kyra, Marcus had this irresistible smell, a smell only Male dragons can produce when they were mating…..Serpicose (is like an Incense that attracts Female Dragons)…. but Kyra wasn’t sure he was one so she was still observing him carefully….Moving on. Kyra wanted to know what will happen to her in the future. So she persuaded Sebastian to read Tarots for her. After she shuffled and cut the cards when it was time to read the cards Sebastian saw……Death. not to Kyra but to Marcus. And by this point Serpicose is getting the best of her and she was in desperate need to find a way to save Marcus….she can only think of Marcus. She ended up asking for help from Zeke and Higgins and they helped her to get the magic she needed and when Kyra went on a so called date with Marcus and friends she saw Death and was trying to protect Marcus and ended up in the Purgatory ( You know what happened haha….you know Purgatory….Death….) and here is the best parts of the book… will Kyra be able to escape the Purgatory safely or end up as Dragon food? will She and Sebastian find out what they really something for each other ? and will Death be successful in taking the Life of Marcus? Oh! so many twist and turns.

The Book, The Moorigad Dragon is the first book in the series I liked the plot, the portala nd stuff, the way the characters developed from somewhat weak and useless to a oh my God he was only pretending to be that kind of character feeling. so why I gave a 4 star rating. the book is good and all plot was great but it is more of a book where you just establish how the plot starts so you start with how this characters meet and what happens after. you show what happens in this particular part what is the Mystic Carnival about. what kind of Dragon is a Moorigad Dragon. I must say the begging of the book had a fair amount of action in it but like most of the books I’v read the most action packed part of the book is near the end of the book. So you’d be feeling…it could’ve been better. I like book series where the author makes each book seem like a stand alone but still amkes you look forward to what happens in the next book. but besides those things this book is quite satisfying considering it is the first book in the series. So the Characters I like was obviously the main ones. Kyra’s Ability to change into her Morrigad Dragon and I particularlly like how Sebastian’s Tatoo changes depending on what or who’s in the Purgatory ( You’ll get me in this one once you read the book) and also the character where he helped Kyra and ended up D-E-A-D like whyyyyy!!!!! It was really sweet and I loved every bit of that part of the book. Books that makes me feel stuff (Happy, Pissed, etc.) is always good. The last chapters really got my Fancy. Overall the book has Great Dialogues, Characters with numb feelings, it wasn’t written sloppily. and I loved it. I’m taking a break from fantasy books and start reading some Murder Mystery Books Next.

WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK?

YES!Ms.Debra Kristi knows her stuff she made this book fun and had some really great twist and turns in it you’d enjoy it the minute you start reading it.

If she does not choose she will go mad!

When Kyra, a hybrid fire- water dragon, saves the life of a man destined for reaping, she has no idea of the chain of events she is initiating. Not even Mystic’s Carnival will be safe from the evil machinations of a power-hungry stranger that will threaten Kyra’s bond with her dragon and a possible future with Sabastian.

This is part one of a three-part series that is packed with paranormal action and intrigue. After reading this book I definitely had to read the rest of the stories; could not stop reading until I read all of them. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

I loved this series. It is the story of Kyra, a hybrid dragon of two royal clans. She is being pushed to choose between the two clans, so she runs away to the carnival. It is a magical carnival, so can only be found if the carnival wants to be found. Whilst out with her friend Sebastian (and against his warnings), she saves the life of a man. This proves to be the start of something that is so bad and should never have happened. Kyra eventually realises that she can't run away from herself and becomes what she needs to be.

It is a story of a girl, that can change into dragon. She is a mixed species dragon, mother is water dragon and father fire dragon. She runs away from home and ends of in magical carnival.

I really like the world, that the story takes place in and the whole premise of the story. The page of stuff happening is also great, there is no dull moment.

Only thing I had problems with, was the writing at times. It was so descriptive at times, I forgot what was even going on in the story, a bit to distracting.

The Moorigad Dragon

An enjoyable paranormal story that’s full of twists and turns. I really liked the story but I felt like there was stuff missing. I would’ve loved to see more depth between the characters and their relationship. Also the story itself at times I felt like it just kind of jumped and I found myself going back to see if I missed something. Other then that I really enjoyed the story and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Mystic’s Carnival is a bit of a magical place where misfits come together to create a carnie family. Is it alive or does magic just flow through it. For only those who are lucky will the carnival appear. It chooses you not the other way around. It also chooses the place it stays as well; you can never tell where it will be. Portals exist to those who live there and if you are lucky to enter be ready for some make believe.

Kyra is a hybrid sea dragon born of two worlds and not feeling like she belongs to either. Her mother is dragon of water and her father is fire, the two fighting within her. Not just a water serpent or strong fire beast but a mixture of them both called Kalrapura. She is a fire-breather at the carnival, which comes in handy with one part of her soul. Orange and gold dragon scales and golden eyes seem to intrigue those around her. She feels a connection to her best friend Sebastian but only starts to see him as more when jealousy rears its ugly head. Her new feelings for Sebastian are one-thing that’s confusing her but having a strong urge to help a stranger called Marcus who seems to have death at his heals is another. Her need to protect him is something she can’t explain but there is a pull she must follow for now no matter where it leads her.

Sebastian is a master of tarot cards but very secretive of his past and what he is. You can tell he wants to share it all with Kyra but is holding back. He knows something is coming and that Kyra and Marcus are in the middle of it. He is trying to keep her safe but by keeping her in the dark he might just be losing her to danger.

Now with Marcus there is just something clearly not right with him. Also it looks like death might be following him. Sometimes you need to let things play their course and not intervene. Kyra really should have paid attention to that fact before saving him. Beaten up, thrown from a bridge, fire at his heals and bullets flying seem to be sending a clear message, one she’s not listening too. Lets hope it’s not too late to change how the cards fall or she may lose more than she bargained for.

There’s more to Higgins and Zeke than meets the eye I feel and it just draws you in more to figure out what is going to happen next. Interesting twist at the end though that will get you thinking. On to the next one I think.

I read this book in one day. LOL! It's really good and a hard to put down read.

The Moorigad Dragoon (Age of the Hybrid #1) is a book about Kyra who is a Moorigad, a mix of a water dragon and fire dragon but not really either. She lives and works at a carnival with her friend Sebastian who she has feelings for but never really admits it to herself. She is with him one evening when something strange happens. A man on a bridge is attacked by three others and then thrown into the river. Instead of listening to her friend Sebastian she dives into the river and rescues him. But things begin to change for her from there. She was warned not to interfere and that it would have been better if she had let him drown but something pulls her to do something. But trouble follows her to the carnival and beyond.

Obviously since I read this book in less than a day it's safe to say that this a short read but it's good nonetheless. It's interesting to watch Kyra battle with herself about her feelings toward Sebastian and wanting him to open up to her about himself. But she puts herself in danger and stays determined to stay on the path that she chooses. But there are some confusing elements to this book too. When she winds up some place else and there are battles going on around her it is a bit confusing. I wonder what happened with the spell that was done by Higgins on her. There are some things that are left unanswered when the story ends but I know that it's just an encouragement to pick up the next book in the series to find out what happens next.
All in all I enjoyed this book and how unique and interesting it is. I intend to read the next book in the series when I get the time.

3 1/2 stars...
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so utterly confusing. It drops you in the middle of a magical carnival that seems to be on another plane of existence, but intersects ours at strange times, like when a terminally ill girl is in a medically induced coma. The two main characters are very confusing. There's Kyra who is half fire dragon, half water dragon, with a preferred human looking state of being. This makes her into something not quite fire dragon, not quite water dragon, instead into an anomaly called a Moorigad dragon. Then there's Sebastian, who we don't learn a lot about, but if you read the next book in the series, it explains the Death card that he seems to favor. He's Kyra's childhood flame, and a Tarot card reader. And finally there's the man Kyra saves, Marcus, whom she is insanely attracted to.

While this book confused me more than anything, it does a good job of setting up the next book, which is where the action really happens. You need to read this one, to understand the next one. I think I would prefer the two books combined, with the first book being a prologue of sorts, or a part 1, and the second book being a part 2.

I give this urban fantasy-like story 3.8 out of five stars.
The writing here is fantastic. The author knows how to turn a phrase and offer up vivid details.
The characters were unique and eclectic. I liked the magical aspect of the carnival. Much was left unexplained but not in a way that irritated me. Rather it kept me reading to discover more information.
The Moorigad Dragon is half water dragon and half fire dragon, but she stays in her human form most of the time. It was interesting to learn about her magical abilities- over the weather from the water dragon side-when she was thrown into dangerous situations.
The romantic aspect is limited. This is the first book in a trilogy, so it looks like that's something that will be developed more as the series goes on.
This book felt like an episode. We meet the cast and the heroine falls into a terrible trap. At the end, we learn who perpetrated the trap, but nothing more. Must wait for episode two to see if her best friend can rescue her. A dragon who needs rescuing?
Oh, sorry. I guess I left something out. You'll have to read it if you want to know how that could ever be true. And book two (which I won at a bookish party) will go into my suitcase for vacation reading next week. Hope it resolves more than this one did.

Mama’s Thoughts on the Mystic Carnival novellas:
Wow, what a whirlwind of words! These short books pack quite the mouthy punch, filling your senses and taking you on a wild ride through a supernaturally touched world of wonders. In each installment we meet a variety of interesting characters, but in the two dragon books we focus on Kyra, a wickedly funny, strong heroine caught up in a fight she didn’t know she picked, with entities she didn’t know existed. I enjoyed the descriptive journey through the carnival each time it appeared, and wanted to know more about some of the other, barely mentioned inhabitants. The relationships were not very strong in these books, but I think it’s hard to put too much effort in something that’s not the focus of your story, especially with so few pages to do it in. These are quick reads and there’s action to keep things nice and fast moving, though at times I felt I wanted things to slow down just a bit. I’d give these 3.5 stars for a great time!
