EAGLE-EYED Holby City fans were left baffled tonight as they spotted the dashing new dentist from Call The Midwife in A&E.

Actor Jack Hawkins joined the cast for tonight's show and viewers were convinced they had seen him before.

Jack turned up the medical drama tonight playing Alex Lambert, whose swimmer brother was admitted with a nasty bout of Crohn's disease.

Fans flocked to Twitter to point out that the hunky actor also played dentist Christopher Dockerill in Call The Midwife.

Christopher is best known as Trixie's boyfriend in the popular period drama - and fans were quick to spot him in Holby City.

Jack joined the cast of Call The Midwife last month as dashing dentist Christopher, who sweeps Trixie Franklin off her feet.

They met when the midwife asked for help dealing with a mother-to-be with problem teeth.

The actor has appeared in two previous episodes of Holby City, as well as making a brief appearance in sister show Casualty in 2014.

His other roles have included parts in Doctors and New Tricks.
