BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The killer behind the slaying of a Chautauqua County couple was sentenced to a life sentence Monday.

Davide Coggins, 35, was found guilty of the killings of Gordon and Joyce Skinner in the Town of Carroll. Monday Coggins was sentenced to 50 years to life behind bars.

Investigators found the bodies of the Skinners in their burning home in 2013. The killing wasn’t random, it was one part of a burglary gone awry.

A jury found him guilty of murder in the second degree for felony murder and counts for arson, burglary and conspiracy. They found him not guilty — notably — of murder in the first degree.

Three other defendants took plea deals in exchange for testifying against Coggins.
