Water Damage in McMahon Due to Sleeping Resident

By CONNOR MANNION

The morning of Saturday, Feb. 28, the Offices of Public Safety and Facilities at Fordham College at Lincoln Center (FCLC) were working to resolve water damage to the lobby ceiling of the McMahon Residence Hall. The water damage is a result from an incident on the 8th floor where an apartment’s shower was left running throughout the night, according to a security supervisor.

The damage was seemingly extensive as of this morning, and multiple ceiling tiles have been removed for replacement. Likewise, the television that displays school announcements for students entering the McMahon elevator lobby has been disconnected and covered in plastic. As of 3:30 p.m., many of the buckets used for drainage had been removed, and the majority of the damage to the lobby was on its way to resolution.

According to the Office of Public Safety, a resident on the 8th floor fell asleep after turning on their shower, which proceeded to run through the night. There is some minor water damage to the carpet of the 8th floor hallway.
