Choosing the right size for a project can be a bit confusing. I know I get so excited sometimes, I cast on right away and overlook the important measurements. A few months ago, Amy wrote a fantastic blog post on the subject to help clarify what all those numbers in our patterns really mean. For a crash course, the first thing you need is measuring tape. Wearing a t-shirt, comfortably wrap the tape around your torso (just under the armpit and above the bust). Compare that measurement to the set of numbers listed under the "To Fit Bust" section. There are many ways to fine tune and alter sizing, but this measurement is a good place to start. To determine how much ease the designer intended, take a look at the "Finished Measurements" in the schematic. The difference between the “Finished Measurements” and the "To Fit Bust" numbers is the sweater’s ease. You can practice taking your measurements when you choose a size for this week’s free pattern, Kirsten!
