Vancouver police are investigating after the discovery of shots fired into parked vehicles in the area of Main Street and East 56th Avenue.

Just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday the department received 911 calls reporting the sounds of gunshots. Officers searched the area and spoke with several people who were in the neighbourhood, but at the time were unable to confirm that any shots had been fired.

Police were called back to the area at around 10:30 a.m. after a firearm and shell casing were found on the ground.

“A further search of the area located a number of parked, unoccupied vehicles with what appear to be bullet holes,” said department spokesman Const. Jason Doucette. “There have been no reported injuries.”

Doucette said while it is still early in the investigation, based on the information gathered so far it appears to be a targeted shooting.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact investigators at 604-717-2596, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
