I love the 1,000 at the end. It suggests a bunch of guys who all came into the auction with an ironclad rule of not one penny over 25 mill and then one of them blinked but everyone else held fast.

Why was G so determined to align G with this new TLD?
Will an .app registration include TOS / TCU defining G's rights to access data generated by .app sites/apps?
Do app-landers pose a threat to the crown . . so G acquires rights, control, access via lording over the domain of .app?
Fascinating move. I can see G offering tools / services to facilitate the building of apps . . as a calculated move against Apple / AppsStore.
