Russell Brand, Unexpected TOB Theologian, on Porn and Fifty Shades

I am the last person who would have expected to agree with Russell Brand on many topics, let alone the topic of sex.

But his comments on the craze surrounding Fifty Shades of Grey had me furiously nodding my head in surprised agreement.

Some highlights:

– Brand connects the violence of warmongering and consumerism with softcore porn

– Brand quotes “a priest” on the topic of porn (who happens to be Saint John Paul II – or at least a quote commonly attributed to him)

– Objectification, need for validation, fear of intimacy: aftereffects of porn use

– Brand connects sex with procreation over and over

– Discussion on the dangers of a biological drive for procreation connected with a culture of objectification

Wow, basically this video is wisdom from unexpected places. Russell Brand is a man who speaks about the dangers of porn from experience.
