Jeff Fisher sounds convinced Bradford will remain Ram

INDIANAPOLIS — Rams coach Jeff Fisher reiterated on Friday quarterback Sam Bradford is not going anywhere.

A CBS Sports report said the Rams had given permission to Bradford’s agent to seek a trade. Fisher was asked about that report.

“I was surprised to hear that — not surprised — but no, that’s inaccurate,” Fisher said. “We talked about what our plans are for him.”

Bradford has been injury prone, forcing the Rams to go through a variety of other options. But right now, Fisher said he is unsure what Plan B would be.

“We’re counting on him,” Fisher said. “I’m betting on him, and if that doesn’t happen, then we’ll win games with someone else.”

Bradford is coming off ACL surgery, following an injury he suffered in the preseason last year.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll appreciated Patriots coach Bill Belichick defending him after the Super Bowl earlier this month. Belichick called criticism of Carroll’s decision to throw at the end of the game “totally out of line.” The play backfired, of course, when Malcolm Butler intercepted Russell Wilson’s pass to seal the win for the Patriots. Carroll was ripped from coast to coast, but Belichick stuck up for his fellow coach.

“It is important,” Carroll said of Belichick’s opinion. “I care. We all care about that. Bill is an extraordinary coach. Anything he says, people should listen to. In this case, he’s just respecting coaching. He understands the game. He knows what was going on exactly. He gets it.”

Carroll said he has moved on from the loss after “a time needed for healing.”

“The old adage about the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, we just watched it,” he said. “We just watched it over a 12-month period. It couldn’t have been more obvious, and there are great lessons and great growth to come out of that.

“That’s what’s going on here. A team couldn’t have been through more. This will make us extremely strong. Sometimes that’s hard to see when it hurts, but that’s OK. We’ll make it through that. We’ll hopefully be a powerful organization.”
