This Valentine’s Day makeup gif tutorial proves that pink on pink (on pink) is surprisingly wearable
Well, the holidays are over and a bleak two (three, five?) months of winter are upon us. Although spring is still weeks away, you can fake a bright and cheery (out)look until warmer weather hits. Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to debut lighter, more romantic makeup. While a dramatic cat eye and bright red lipstick might be a more typical way to bring the sex appeal, we’re partial to a softer look on February 14th.
Bright, feminine shades don’t have to look juvenile, so follow our Valentine’s Day makeup gif tutorial and learn how to pull off the look without going overboard. The key to wearing matching shades is to apply everything with a soft hand.
1. To achieve this look, start off by applying a copper shadow across your entire lid. Make sure to apply it sparingly to not overshadow (pun intended) the natural look you’re hoping to achieve. If you apply too much, simply wipe off the excess with a damp tissue paper. Next apply your favourite rose gold or pink shadow over top and make sure to blend it in with a tapping motion across the entire eyelid to add depth to your coverage and add a desired amount of pink shimmer.
2. Then grab your blush brush and sweep your favourite—you guessed it—pink shade along the apples of your cheeks. If you’re #blessed enough to have high cheek bones, make sure to apply it just below the upper cheekbone to avoid creating a hardened look (we’re not contouring here!).
3. Nothing completes this look like the perfect pink lip shade. The colour we used (M.A.C “Peach Blossom”) is perfect for fair-skinned women, and will complement the pink shimmer in your eyeshadow and give you an effortless hint of colour.
For those with darker or olive skin, choose a pink lipstick or lip pencil in a berry or fuchsia hue (such as M.A.C’s “Full Fuchsia”).
4. Last but definitely not least, you’ll want to make sure to add eyeliner and mascara to finish off this amazing look. Simply line your upper lid from the inner to outer edges and add some mascara. No need to be precise, as this look is all about ease and wearability.
