Valentine's Day is just around the corner, which means you're probably scrambling to put together your perfect date night ensemble.

But before you settle on your final look, take a moment to consider what your partner would like (after all, Valentine's Day is about thinking of others). When it comes to hair and makeup, our significant others can have some pretty strong opinions. And while some people don't know much about beauty and hair trends, there are some looks they can all agree are pretty darn sexy.

We've rounded up 10 tips to create a Valentine's Day beauty look both you and your partner will love. Check them out below!

Go Au Naturel

Tips To Create A Valentine's Day Beauty Look He'll Love

Go Au Naturel

When it comes to makeup, less is definitely more. There are so many products out there to perfect, contour, camouflage and so on, but hiding behind layers makeup will just make your partner wonder what you really look like underneath it all. Instead, use makeup to softly enhance your natural beauty by focusing on one feature to play up, such as your eyes or your lips. Keep the rest of your look simple.

Ditch The Red Lips

Sure, some people like a red lip, but let's be honest -- it's not the best choice for the biggest date night of the year. Instead, choose a subtle gloss that shows off the natural texture of your lips. You want your lips to look soft and kissable, after all. Hint: your significant other will agree it's not what's on your lips that's sexy, but watching the application process!

Pamper And Prep Your Skin

If you're planning on braving the cold and wearing a skirt, you'll want your legs to be super soft. Take the time to exfoliate with a hydrating scrub, shaving with a new blade, and moisturizing with your favourite body lotion. It's Valentine's Day -- pamper yourself!

Don't Be Fake

Hair extensions, false lashes, fake tan -- they all come across as trying too hard, and make it seem as though you're not comfortable in your own skin. Instead of going this route, embrace everything that makes you unique and play up your best feature. Love your hair? Try a new style by adding waves. Want to play up your eyes? A new mascara or eyeshadow can really make those peepers pop. Got great skin? Find a pretty blush to accentuate it and give it a sexy glow. Besides, it's you your SO loves, not a fake version!

Go Softly Smoky

A seductive smoky eye paired with a nude lip can be quite alluring. Not too confident in your makeup skills? There are many eye palettes out there that have all the shades you need to create the perfect smoky eye and to take the guesswork out of it (we love Laura Mercier's version). To finish off the look, line the inner rim of your eyes with a black kohl liner and finish with a few swipes of mascara.

Catch The Wave

Forget about the complicated updo -- loose, flowing hair makes you look more effortless and sexy. Style a few loose waves and finish with a flexible hold hairspray for an undone look that will last all night.

Go Subtle With Fragrance

The biggest beauty faux pas is overdoing it on the fragrance (this goes for men and women). Instead of dousing yourself in your favourite fragrance, spray your perfume in the air and walk through backwards. This will give you a subtle scent that your man or woman will only be able to detect once they gets closer.

Get Glowing

Channel your inner Jennifer Lopez and get your glow on! Use a liquid highlighter for your face and a shimmery lotion on your collarbones or shoulders for a subtly sexy look.

Pay Attention To Your Nails

A great manicure can make a woman feel instantly polished. Whether you like your nails long or short, be sure to keep them neat -- your mani should complement your look, not distract from it. We're especially fond of a classic red for a perfectly polished (and festive!) Valentine's Day look.

Blush A Little

Add a hint of blush to your cheeks for that slightly flushed look. Pick a shade that's similar to the hue your cheeks turn when you flush to keep it looking natural and not overdone.
