Tickets for Juan Gabriel concert being refunded
Ticketmaster outlets and the UTEP Ticket Center have begun refunding tickets for the late Mexican singer Juan Gabriel’s concert, officials with the University of Texas at El Paso’s Office of Special Events said Monday.
Juan Gabriel was to perform Sunday at the Don Haskins Center in front of a sold-out audience of adoring fans. The singer, who grew up and started his singing career in Juárez, died of natural causes on Sunday morning.
Officials at UTEP said that ticketholders who ordered their tickets by phone or online through Ticketmaster would be contacted and refunded automatically to the bank or credit card account used to order the tickets. Refunds could take several business days to clear, depending on the ticketholder’s bank or credit card company, officials said.
Those who picked up physical tickets to Sunday’s concert will need to return their tickets at the point of purchase, officials said.
While some Juan Gabriel fans may want to keep their physical tickets as a souvenir in remembrance of Mexico’s biggest pop star, officials said, those tickets must be returned in order to be refunded for auditing purposes.
