The Team

The Library Resources Section (LRS) is part of the Library Services team in Research and Information. The section manages the House of Commons Library's online resources, collection of books, pamphlets, Official Publications, serials and newspapers, as well as the collection of hardcopy and digital parliamentary papers. The team is also responsible for the binding and conservation of library stock, and the Library catalogue.    

The Role

  • Assist in the management of the online resources provided by the Commons Library, including seeking feedback from users, analysing statistics and reporting trends, attending supplier meetings and acting upon discussions. 
  • Arrange trials of and enlist participants for new services; engage with users, liaise with suppliers, secure initial pricing and work with the Online Resources Manager to feed into decision making and writing business cases. 
  • Support the promotion of online resources; writing news items for House publications and liaising with the Research and Information Communications Team. 
  • Attend meetings with key customers and colleagues in the Research and Information Service, Members’ Library Service and other teams as required.  Helping to share information and seek feedback. 
  • Work with the Online Resources Manager to answer copyright queries received by the Library Resources Team and update the Copyright FAQs. 
  • Any other duties to support the work of the Online Resources Team or other teams in LRS as required.
