DES MOINES, Iowa – Senior Matt Frost (London, England) was named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of Week following last weekend's 4-0 showing. The Bulldogs' No. 3 singles player, Frost leads the squad into four matches this weekend at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
Frost earned the honor by going a perfect 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles over last weekend in matches against Nebraska and No. 51 Dartmouth. He collected a 6-3, 6-3, win at No. 3 against Dartmouth and a 6-2, 7-5, win at No. 3 against Nebraska. In doubles action, he teamed up with Ravi Patel (London, England) to record a 6-1 win against Nebraska and a 6-2 win over Dartmouth. Frost is now 4-1 in singles action at No. 3 this season and has 5-1 record with Patel at No. 2 doubles.
As a team, the No. 41 Bulldogs are 5-1 on the season with wins over three ranked opponents. The squad will have the opportunity to add to its record with four matches this week starting with a 10 a.m. contest against Gonzaga on Friday, Feb. 6. The team returns to the court later in the afternoon to host UMKC at 4 p.m.
On Sunday afternoon, the team takes on South Alabama at 10 a.m. followed by a 2:30 p.m. contest against Omaha.
