Several years after ending their search deal, Twitter and Google are reportedly ready to give it another try.

Real-time tweets are returning to Google search results thanks to a new deal between Twitter and Google, Bloomberg reports.

Instead of crawling Twitter's site for content, Google will now have access to Twitter's firehouse of data generated by its 284 million users.

This isn't the first go-round between Google and Twitter, though. The two companies formed similar agreements in 2009, but let the deal lapse in 2011 as Google was ramping up its efforts with Google+.

Neither Twitter nor Google immediately responded to PCMag's request for comment.

Twitter already provides data to Microsoft Bing and Yahoo's search engine.

Twitter will report fourth-quarter earnings today, when more details about the deal might be discussed.

Twitter has been busy updating its own service, last month introducing the "While you were away" feature, which provides a recap of some of the top messages you may have missed.

It also rolled out group Direct Messages and video editing, making it easier to carry on conversations in private and capture, edit, and share clips without leaving the app. Youngsters even got a nod with Vine Kids—the new app for making adorable animated videos appropriate for young audiences.
