There is nothing more important than our children. The American Red Cross in southern Nevada is offering in-person classes for potential babysitters. Training programs offered by the Red Cross teach the skills needed to care for children, handle emergency situations and make good decisions. These courses not only give babysitters the skills but also guidance in how to react in an emergency situation.

The babysitting courses offered by the Red Cross at their Las Vegas office fall within two categories. Advanced courses are targeted towards young adults over the age of 16 and teach leadership skills and how to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. The advanced course is also a great resource for new parents and grandparents. This course also teaches life-saving skills. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a two-year certification in pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED. This 8-hour course is offered on February 15. The Red Cross also offers babysitting courses for youth. These courses are designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care to children and infants. This training will teach participants leadership skills and basic child care. Participants also learn how to set up babysitting business models. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old. This is also an 8-hour course and is offered on February 16, 28 and on March 7.
