How many people will there be in my class?

We always try to ensure class sizes are kept to an optimum size – big enough for productive class discussions but small enough to maintain a one- to-one relationship with the tutor – we teach, we don’t ‘lecture.’ We will always split our courses to smaller groups when forecast class sizes reach an optimum level.

Is it possible to request to share a room with my friend?

Yes. Please state who you would like to share with on your enrolment form and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Should I attend tuition & revision phases or just a revision course?

This largely depends on your budget, leave entitlement and time you have to spend on your studies. Tuition makes the initial learning of often complex material much more manageable and structured, and our courses are designed to maximise your opportunity to speak face to face with tutors. This process hugely reduces the amount of self study time required and will give you the best chance of passing. Revision only courses require huge amounts of discipline and dedication at home.

Can I book an extra nights’ accommodation?

Yes, please give as much notice as possible to ensure availability. Costs vary depending on the course and time of year. Fill in the enrolment form or email us as soon as possible.

If I am unable to understand a technical point, how will the tutor be able to help me?

At Reed Business School we pride ourselves on offering a personalised experience. Our tutors are available to give extra help before class starts, during breaks and after class ends.  All communication with the tutor outside of class or attending remotely is via the chat within the Team. Your tutor will set the expectation for their response time out of scheduled course times.

I really do not like staying away from home. What are the advantages of studying residentially?

We are situated in a very quiet but beautiful rural Cotswold village with few distractions, allowing you to focus solely on your studies. With all meals provided and no commuting to contend with, this really frees up your time for study. Students find they can get so much work completed here that they have a great deal more time to relax when they are at home.

Will I be charged the full course fees if I am unable to attend every day?

Dependent upon the course and how much notice is provided a reduction may be made for days you are unable to attend. Please contact us for specific details.

What time can I check into my room the day before my course is due to start?

Your room will be ready for you by 3pm of the day before your course is due to start (assuming night before accommodation has been booked).

What material will be provided?

Course notes will be provided on all courses. Please refer to the qualification pages for details of other materials on-line facilities that are provided within the course fee.

Does the Business School serve cooked breakfast?

No, but there is a full continental breakfast. We feel that as there are hot choice options at lunch and dinner three full meals a day may be a little much.

Do you have any open days where I can come and have a look around?

Yes, we have open evenings and weekends throughout the year. Please view our open event page for details.  Also, It is possible to visit the school at most times of the year if you cannot make the open days. Call us on 01608 674224 to enquire about visiting.

What will my accommodation be like?

All of our accommodation is in cottages in the village of Little Compton.  We have a range of rooms to meet your budget including shared, single and en-suite rooms. With the exception to our premium en-suite rooms, the rooms are basic and designed solely for sleeping, with an area to study.  All rooms are serviced daily by our team of housekeepers.  WI-FI is available in both the Manor and all our residential accommodation.  All are based in very close proximity (between 0 and 3 min walk) to the school itself. Each cottage has its own kitchen with free hot drinks (rarely used as the courses are fully catered) and bathrooms are shared. There are about 7-10 rooms in each cottage and it is your choice whether to take a single room or share with someone from your course. We also have a small number of single en-suite premium rooms which can be booked for a higher fee. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

My employer has not heard of Reed Business School and feels that I should go to a larger competitor. How should I deal with this?

Reed Business School has all of the advantages of our larger competitors, and our excellent tuition and learning material is reflected in our fantastic pass rates.  We are the only tuition provider who openly publish all our exam results.  These can viewed on our pass rate page.  However, because we only operate from one centre and have fewer students, we can offer a much more personal service. Our Course Managers are always happy to arrange to speak with your employer to discuss the choices. Contact us on 01608 674224 to arrange meeting or telephone conversation.

Does the Business School run full time courses?

No. All of our courses are part time.

I do not get study leave. So do you provide any weekend courses?

Yes, we provide weekend courses for CIMA Professional and CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting Qualifications. Some of our ACCA and ICAEW dedicated retake courses also span weekends.

Can students have access to the internet during their visit to us?

Yes, there is an open wi-fi connection within all of the residential facilities and the Manor.

What else will I find in Little Compton?

Little Compton is a small village which contains a pub and a bowls club. The pub is a tied house with the local family run Donnington Brewery serving real ale and food. The secluded, peaceful setting offers many country walks in and around the village.  The Manor also has a heated outdoor swimming pool, tennis court and fabulous gardens to relax in.

Where are the nearest fast food restaurants?

There are some fast food take aways, restaurants, pubs and supermarkets in both Chipping Norton and Moreton in Marsh, which are both within 4 miles of the Business School.

Which are the best taxi firms in the area?

If you are arriving at the weekend or during an evening, it is recommended that you contact one of our listed local taxi companies in advance to book.

I have a food allergy. Will Reed be able to cater for me?

Yes. Please state any dietary restrictions on your enrolment form and the catering department will do their best to accommodate your needs.  Please also introduce yourself to our Head Chef upon arrival and he will be more than happy to discuss your requirements.

Do I have to stay residentially?

No, we do offer day rates for delegates and it is possible to commute by road or rail. However, we have excellent facilities for students who are travelling long distances, or simply want to study in the peace and tranquillity of the Cotswolds.

Does the residential option mean higher fees?

Staying with us residentially is more expensive than studying as a day-delegate, but we keep our costs very competitive, even with lunch and residential facilities you will find our costs are comparable to that of our competitors. Go to the relevant course brochure for a breakdown.

Can I request a specific cottage?

If you have any preference with regards to where you wish to stay please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

What is the booking in procedure?

You’ll receive a confirmation from us once we’ve received your booking. All relevant details will be sent to you within your joining instructions the week before you are due to arrive.  We have a Night Porter who is on duty on the evening of your arrival to meet and greet between 6-9pm.
