This past week was Diversity Week here at UT Martin and students came out to participate in the week-long event.
SGA coordinated a week full of events ranging from movie screenings to panels discussing, gender, sexual identities, and religion.
Jordan Nelson, a UT Martin student, said Diversity Week is important to him because of the warm and open atmosphere it creates.
“It creates a space where people can feel welcome and be accepted for who they are.”
Nelson also valued embracing the differences of his fellow Skyhawks.
"Diversity Week also allows us to learn about and appreciate each other's differences as well as allowing us to create and maintain a sense of community with the students around us."
