(Vatican Radio) In Romania, priests of different denominations have blessed a Church made entirely from ice.
It is considered outstanding both for its architectural style as well as being a place for religious tolerance.
The so-called Ice Church has been newly recreated on a mountain northwest of Bucarest. It is only reachable by cable car at an altitude of 2,000 meters.
The building, which is a copy of an old church in Transylvania, is made of chunks of ice that are cut and cemented together with water and snow.
Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant priests held a service there this week.
Built and blessed anew every winter for the past few years, priests have performed baptisms and wedding blessings in the Ice Church.
It is seen as a special place in which to set aside religious differences and build religious tolerance.
