How the Raspberry Pi 2 Performs Compared to Older Models

We know the Raspberry Pi 2 is faster on paper, but if you're curious about actual benchmark scores, Hackaday ran the Pi 2 through its paces and compared it to the Model B+.

Just using the Raspberry Pi 2 feels a lot faster, but if you want to see actual numbers, Hackaday ran through a bunch of benchmarking tests, including Double Precision Linpack, Dhrystone, OpenGL, and more. On top of comparing it to the Model B+, they also compared it to the BeagleBone Black. Their conclusion's pretty much the same as ours:

The original Raspberry Pi was an interesting educational tool, but it was not a usable computer. I used a Raspi 1 as a workbench computer for about a week. It was slow, and it was terrible. The Raspberry Pi 2 is perfectly usable as a small, cheap, and portable desktop system, and the added power opens up a few doors on what's is possible with a $35 computer.

Head over to Hackaday for all the specifics.
